About

Local WKWSCI graduate.

I don’t look anything like the stuff I write.

Read this somewhere before:

Participants took positions, got excited, shaped events for woe or weal, but ended up losing perspective on reality. I remained the untouched observer, seeing the whole picture because I was not in the picture…The notion of being the invisible stranger always appealed to me.

I think it applies to me quite very much. Well..unless you are one of those few who can awaken the inner bitch in me. Then, good luck to you.

WOOOHOOO!!! You are SOOOO right about “something about the 90′s”!! I share EXACTLY the same memories as you, especially Digimon. I still have a couple of them today!😀 (Those brick ones, before digivice days)

    Cool post! Keep them coming!

Wow! The “ome things I remember from the 90′s.” Post was totally awesome! It sure was a trip down memory lane!

I almost forgot some of the stuff already, like the colour stickers on the spine of workbooks in primary school! And I couldn’t help laughing at the ACES day exercises, esp. the one where they had the “flush” toilet action, where everyone wld add sound effects to it!😄. Also, the one where kids (like me!) wake up early during the wkend mornings just to catch Digimon! haha!

It truly is an amazing collection of memories! Did you compile the entire thing on your own or you had other’s who help contribute to it. Maybe you shld set up a 90s memories collection! So that you can gather more interesting memories!🙂

Anyway, Thanks and kudos for such an awesome compilation of those nostalgic years in the 90s!

Hey I enjoyed the growing up in 90’s post! All the memories, and I don’t even remember them, up till now! Aw. You’re right kids nowadays don’t even play block catching. I’d go downstairs and play block catching with random kids I don’t even know, then buy ice pop, resting in perspiration. Good ol’ days. Or even battling on the old digivice that looks like a pager! All we do is hold the digivice and ask any kid for a battle. It’s amazing cos I can now show those to the younger generation, how much fun they missed out camping in front of the computer. Doubt they even know what neopet is!

I got to your blog a few hours ago, via a link I’ve seen on my friend’s Facebook status on the one about “growing up in the 90s”. I’ve been reading every other (unlocked) post since. Really took to your thought-provoking posts, including but not limited to the ones on dialects, on learning the Chinese language and the random one about the mom on the MRT (not the aspiring Olympic runner who sent her baby off to the next station, but the one with the kid who fell asleep reading).

You mentioned in one of your posts that you wanted to be a journalist. I think I will see your name in the papers some day. (: good luck to you!

Hey jam (may I call you that? lol)

First of all, nice blog! I was linked here to your Dota post by a friend, and seriously, I love your blogging style.😀 You’re probably bored of hearing it already, but your 90’s post was amazing. It really brought back the good ole days. I’m from M’sia, so I’m not quite sure how I happened to have (almost) the entire Smarty’s collection, or even YG as my childhood reading material. Loved them to bits, though, and I’d read them over and over again.😄

I also loved your post about sharing the bus/train; it never fails to crack me up. Did I mention I liked your blogging style? It’s exactly the type I like to read: funny, sarcastic, logical yet completely insane at the same time. LOL

    So, I gathered you’re studying communication? You’re doing great so far on the communicating part, so keep up the good work!🙂 I’m a comm student myself, but I seldom blog these days. ^^;;

Umm… That’s about it so far, I guess. All the best, and keep posting good stuff (for your readers’ entertainment, haha)!

    Cheers,
    Laura

      Hi Laura!

Thanks for inflating my ego so much..haha. It really is heartening when people leave comments to say they agree with my observations or that my writing resonates with them, coz then I know I’m not the only weirdo having such musings. Haha. I have always loved writing and will still do (provided I can find time) because I can express myself better in the written word than the spoken word, or pictures. Now, I’ve given up my grand dream of becoming a journalist, instead turning to a new love that is communication theory and research. I believe it suits my personality better, and human interaction is simply so fascinating. Glad you like my form of sarcasm. I doubt I can say that for my dear friends, especially when they’re on the receiving end. HAHA.
All the best to you too fellow communications major!

I’m a silent stalker of this blog.. And I’ve always wondered who is the owner of that brilliant, slightly cynical brain and heart behind the words. It shines through. Anyways, stranger. You sound like you’re currently going through a mess. I somehow hope words from another stranger would help (in a way): I think no matter what: the heart is what matters the most. Even though, yes. Reality makes it hard to remember that. Add oils!
