The interaction between us and different kinds of people can roughly be classified into the following.
Some people are like sodium and water. Fast, explosive, but it fizzes out quickly and soon nothing is left.
Some people are like iron rusting. Slow, painful, ugly, and you can’t escape from it.
Some people are like calcium carbonate reacting with sulphuric acid: something happens initially, but after a while an insoluble layer of product is formed around the reagent and everything stops.
Some people are like transition metals: you never know their true colors.
Some people are like potassium chlorate and gummy bears. Let the sparks fly. (see vid number 8 at this link)
But, I have yet to met a person that simply makes me dissolve.
